Marvin Composites in Fargo, ND is hiring an R&D Technician. Are you passionate about exploring new material technologies and their potential impact on the window and door industry? As a Research and Development Technician, you'll assist with activities related to the evaluation of the innovative materials used in these applications. This includes production test runs, testing material performance, maintenance of data and samples, and more. Your work will support the smooth functioning of our R&D lab and have a direct influence on the introduction of new products and processes. Additionally, you'll have access to technical training crafted to improve your skills and the opportunity to collaborate with different teams within our business units, as well as external service providers and universities.

Highlights of your role

  • Perform analytical testing, data collection, and analysis with accuracy and precision, including preparing chemicals and test set-ups per laboratory procedures
  • Ensure compliance with established R&D practices, including record-keeping, lab consumables inventory, housekeeping, and chemical storage in line with safety guidelines
  • Support trial activities, including preparation, set-up, documentation, sample management, and testing
  • Maintain R&D instruments and equipment, coordinate calibrations, and provide training as needed
  • Assist in creating or revising procedures for test instruments, equipment, and processes, and support short-term projects and continuous improvement efforts
  • Promote effective communication with team members and collaborators across the organization

Schedule: Monday- Friday , on-site

You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)

  • Pultrusion/Manufacturing and general lab experience are highly desirable
  • Strong math skills, basic knowledge of statistics, and familiarity with manufacturing processes and analytical methodologies.
  • Excellent digital literacy, along with enthusiasm to learn diverse technologies

Also want to make sure you have

  • Capable of safely lifting/moving objects when required (25-50 lbs.)
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Flexibility and ability to respond to changing priorities
  • Ability to read instrument/equipment manuals and establish operating guidelines
